What is your first gaming experience?

The first gaming experience I remember happened when I was about six years old. We already had a TV and a VHS player and I had a lot of cartoons I would watch. Then one day my parents brought a Dendy and…a plastic gun. Just to try it. The only game we had for the first couple of weeks was “Duck Hunt”, and I quickly learned that it was some new type of cartoon I could interact with.

So, as you see, I sort of began as a hardcore console shooter gamer:D

What got you into programming games?

Actually I’m not a coder. I’ve been working for 6 years as a business and product analyst in “classical” software development. I started searching for something more creative I could do, some kind of interesting career twitch, where I could blend my skills and my hobby. Game design seemed to fit alright, so I started educating myself in this field. Well, if I`ve always loved games, why not go try and make some. So I decided to take part in a games jam which led to my first tiny game.GxdhDf

What development tools or coding did you use?
As I`ve already said, I’m not a coder and sadly enough, currently we don’t have any programmers in the team, so I use the tools that don’t require much coding. “The Lady or The Tiger?” was made with an open source WYSIWYG editor, eAdventure (http://e-adventure.e-ucm.es/). It was the only tool I knew when the games jam started. The game I’m currently working on is on Construct2 engine.

What hurdles did you have making your current game?

Mostly I had troubles with the tool which was buggy and spoiled my work several times. Also I couldn’t manually debug or optimize anything and when it came to publishing it turned out that it’s quite a messy process for Java applets if you want them to run on the web, so I decided to stick with a downloadable version. A hard thing was also finding enough time and stay motivated, because I had my daily job which took up most of my energy.

After the completion of the game what game will you make?

“The Lady or The Tiger?” is finished and now I’m making a memory puzzle game that will tell the player about the factors that are bad for the memory and brain in general. I like games that do have some meaning and share some valuable information with the player. Gaming is one of the most natural learning processes and I hope to master making the most of it in the future.

What other games have you made?

At the present moment “The Lady or The Tiger?” is my only published game. After I finish the memory game I’m currently working on, there is a nice metroidvania concept we hope to develop. We are already forming a small studio to do this. Currently there are just two of us, but we hope to expand as the concept gets closer to a detailed design document. There are still many questions to address.

My favourite computer was my Amiga and console the Megadrive do you have a favourite?

I played on many different devices, but can’t particularly call anything a favourite. Now I have a gaming MSI notebook, which is also my game development tool, and occasionally borrow a PSP from my friend when I travel somewhere.

What is your favourite retro game?

Retro games are something from my childhood, so I would name Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers 1 and 2 as my favourite.

Do you still game on the current consoles if so whats your favourite game?

Yes, I have a PS3 and a collection of favourite games. My favourite titles include the God of War series, the Darksiders and Dishonoured.L3mHge

Whats the worst game you have ever played?

That’s a really tough question, you know! I guess I usually tend to stop playing if the game is boring, so such games fail to leave a distinct imprint in my memory. But I always try to notice something good even about the games I didn’t play long. Maybe it’s just that I don’t like to remember bad things:)

Finally what game or feature would you like to see on Retrogamesmaster in the future?

I like it as it is and I would like to see it further evolving. I don’t feel that much of an expert (yet) to really recommend something useful:D Keep going!4QMbMh
