Welcome to Retro Games Master.
Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Simon Tysland, the one and only developer of Loneworks Games. I am trying to create an awesome 2D RPG heavily inspired by Dark Souls, for mobile phones and tablets. And I do this all alone 🙁
What is your first gaming experience?
I would guess Pong, but from what I remember, my first true nerdy gaming session was on NES playing Turtles 2.
What got you into programming games?
I’ve taken a Bachelor in IT (Game Design), but I didn’t do much programming to be honest. After school I had to get a job, and they were looking for a programmer. So I took the challenge and started learning scripting for games.
What development tools or coding did you use?
C-sharp, Visual Studio and Unity3D.
What hurdles did you have making your game?
But generally in solo development is: Being alone is hard, so much to do, so little time. Being alone with all your ideas, and only you looking at your game. Etc.
After the completion of the game what game will you make?
I will make a follow up on the game I am making now, with better features and mechanics. Also, depending on how my first game will go, I will hire freelancers to do the stuff I suck at.
What other games have you made you made?
I’ve worked on “Wasteland Bar Fight”, a simple beat’em up.

Well since I was born in the 90’s, I got to say: My dads computer, running windows 95 and Nintendo 64.
What is your favourite retro game?
Has to be Donkey Kong Country, a boring answer I know, but the game is insanely good.
Do you still game on the current consoles if so whats your favourite game?
I don’t play much on the consoles, except from when I am at a local bar. I play a lot of Rocket League, because it is hilarious.
