BIO
Daniel Ibbertson AKA DJ Slope from Slopes Game Room aims to bring you the complete history on your gaming past. Your nostalgia is safe with me… …Welcome to Slopes Game Room

What is your first gaming experience?

My first gaming experience was (as far as I remember) a game called Bridge It (possible Oh Mummy) for the Amstrad CPC 464

What got you into games?

They are Games… who doesn’t like games? The word itself sounds fun and I simply enjoy having fun! 😛 Honestly, I have been playing games for as long as I can remember always being fascinated about the future (and retro too of course) with its ways of entertaining me.

When and why did you start your youtube channel ?

I started my channel because I was obsessed with looking up game history! we all know the obvious retro gaming facts (ET carts in the desert, Doki Doki Panic, Video Game Crash 83 etc) and even though these historical facts are true… it was a very different story here in the UK. Simply put, I had stories to tell, most the people in the real world did not care about these nerdy facts. so, I made a youtube channel and have never looked back.

What was the most difficult video to make and what hurdles did you have?

every video is different some take a couple of days, whilst others can take months. endless amounts of times I have come up against brick walls and not been able to finish a video due to not finding enough information.

Who is your favourite youtuber and why?

Wow, so many to chose from, I could say the obvious folk like Larry Bundy, Kim Justice, Lazy Game Reviews, AVGN etc… but, I’m gonna suggest people check out the incredibly underrated but always fascinating YouTuber “Jimmy Hapa” and his series “Import Gaming For The Win”

What was your first experiences and hurdles when you started ?

It can be disheartening when a video you expect to do well simply doesn’t! I remember after I did my Streets of Rage history video that my Golden Axe history video didn’t do very well at all (initially) I was actually furious that I had spent so long on it and it barely touched 100 views compared to SoR 1,000s. I look back at this mindset now and cringe lol. It was my early days. The sooner you learn to level your expectations the better your content will became!

Where would you like to be in 10 years and what would you like to be doing?

The channel has continued to grow, In 10 years I would like to think that I can continue to adapt it in ways I am yet to discover

My favourite computer was my Amiga and console the Megadrive do you have a favourite?

The Mega Drive 100% followed by The Nintendo Switch & The Dreamcast | excellent libraries!

What is your favourite retro game?

Sonic 3 & Knuckles

Do you still game on the current consoles if so what’s your favourite game?

OOOOOOO Favourite game on a current console…. hmmmmmm… I would have to think about that… However, a few games that come to mind would be Ori & The Blind Forest, Cuphead & Binding of Issac

Whats the worst game you have ever played?

Honestly, I have no idea, probably some random MAME arcade from that my memory has rejected… errrrrrr, let’s say Football Manager. I see literally no reason why I would ever play those games

Finally what game or feature would you like to see on Retrogamesmaster in the future?

You can never cover enough Indie titles 😛
