First of all Welcome to Retrogamesmaster.
Pleased to be here 🙂
What is your first gaming experience?
Chai: damn, I think it would be Alley Cat, though the first game I really sank my teeth into would be Mixed up Mother Goose.
Skyking: I think it was Alex the Kid on Sega Master System, can’t quite remember though :p
What got you into programming games?
Every avid gamer out there will know that moment, when you play so many games you get a vision of your ideal game. Guess in a way that dream got ahold of us, so we went ahead and each of us made the worst games you can imagine! Hahaha
But eventually we got a bit better at it and ended up making games for a living full time 😉
What development tools or coding did you use?
We’ve used Unity for the engine which uses C#, and for the art numerous tools which include Modo, Zbrush and Photoshop.. For the game design we’ve heavily used Mindmaps via eDraw and other tools.
What hurdles did you have making your current game?
The biggest time sink was the unique game design loop.
However the biggest hurdle by far is the actual marketing on the Kickstarter, it really is a full time job. 😉
After the completion of the game what game will you make?
As we’ve been making games for quite a while, we learned it’s best not to think too far ahead when our current game is still in such a critical development stage. 🙂
What other games have you made?
This is the first game we are making as Ballistic Interactive.
However we have a collective experience of 14 years, working on other companies’ games.
I think the most famous would be the Stardrive franchise.
My favourite computer was my Amiga and console the Megadrive do you have a favourite?
Chai: Megadrive hell ya! As for computer, I actually like current gen because they can run emulators smoothly.
Pete: I can’t go past the Playstation 1, too many good games on there!
What is your favourite retro game?
Chai: Hard one, I literally have a hundred favorite retro games!
If I had to pick the top, it would be Shining Force 2, god … the memories … I remember going through the manual that came with the cartridge, I must have read it so many times.
Close seconds would be Rings of Power & Star Control 2 … and I guess after that Ultima Underworld, Sword of Vermillion, Streets of Rage … damn see what you made me do ? 🙂
Skyking: Double Dragon is by far the best co-op game I played growing up, still yet to beat it, but one day!!. Really liked Altered Beast, and Shinobi as well, I mean damn, metamorphosis into insane beasts that dominate, who wouldn’t like it!
Do you still game on the current consoles if so whats your favourite game?
Chai: I did play xbox red dead redemption, but I hooked it up to a keyboard + mouse hahah
Dark souls would go to the top, but I ended up playing the port with a controller instead 😛
Skyking: Still play my PS3 whenever I get a chance. Metal Gear Solid is definitely my favourite game (the original).
Whats the worst game you have ever played?
Chai: Hmm tbh I don’t remember, most bad games I just disregard right away
Skyking: I can’t really say I have a ‘worst’ game that I have played, but if I had to give one a mention, I would say Golden Eye, which was actually ridiculously fun, but man oh man did I suck at it! 😉
Finally what game or feature would you like to see on Retrogamesmaster in the future?
Nothing in particular, love retrogamesmaster keep up the good work! 🙂
